The academic year 2011/2012

The Swedish academic year is based on a 2-term system. The two terms are each of about 20 weeks duration. The autumn term begins in late August or early September and ends in mid-January. The spring terms begins immediately thereafter, around 20 January, and continues until the beginning of June. There is a 2-week break around Christmas, and a few shorter breaks around Easter and other spring holidays. There is a long break in the summer, but a few summer courses in different fields are often offered.
